Renowned superbike brand unveiled the most anticipated sports scooter, the SR150 at a zesty Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai. The Aprilia SR150 has been priced at Rs 65,000, ex-showroom which goes to Rs 82,000, on-road Mumbai. Targeting young buyers who have a penchant for racy machines and need something really distinct, the Aprilia SR150 has no competition, as present, in India.
The Aprilia SR150 carries the brand’s philosophy, “Designed for Racers, Built for Riders” commented Stefano Pele, Managing Director and CEO, PVPL. The SR150 is the first 150cc gearless scooter and will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Baramati. To create more excitement at the launch, Aprilia also flew down world superbike champion Lorenzo Savadori from italy. Last year, Lorenzo won the world championship with four victories and seven podiums through eight races aboard the Aprilia RSV4RF.
Coming to the Aprilia SR150, it gets a dual headlight cluster with racy decals on the side. It also gets impressive brand livery all through its profiles. The highlight of the design remains the 14-inch wheels, which we have never seen on a scooter and also large disc brakes, again an impressive addition. The meaty looking 149cc motor puts out an impressive 11.4PS and 11.5Nm of torque. The motor is paired to an automatic gearbox
Though the price is attractive which has been achieved by 90 per cent localization in the final product, the prices of SR150 are expected to go up considerably, hinted Stefano. We hear the priced of the SR150 will reach Rs 1 lakh. In addition, there have been reports of the SR150 getting more powerful variants next year. Stay tuned to this space as we wait to get our hands on one of these.
